Job Profile

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Planning and Commercial Intelligence this role will be responsible for the security and integrity of the Canadian databases, dataflow between internal and external systems and supporting the team by producing quality business intelligence reporting (trending, business intelligence data, data modelling and provide accurate monthly and quarterly insights). The consumer Intelligence Manager will build relationships with team members and stakeholders (within Canada, US and Global) and have the ability to communicate in a simplified manner. This role is instrumental in ensuring data integrity, while continuing to develop best practices in policies, processes, controls and documentation. This role will initially involve more DBA responsibilities however will evolve into a full time Consumer Intelligence Manager role as natural transition and organic growth happens.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Database Analysis

  • Overall ownership of the security and flow of the Canadian specific data
  • Provide support and knowledge to IT project managers and contract DBA
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
  • Maintain data standards including adherence to the Data Protection Act
  • Commission and install new applications and customize existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose
  • Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database

Business Intelligence

  • Translate business requirements into data models that are easy to understand and used by various disciplines across the company
  • Ability to read data models and comprehend database structures and relationships
  • Partner with business domain experts, data analysts and US data teams to build foundational data sets that are trusted and aligned with the overall business strategy and the impact manifesto.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in working with data architecture, data modeling, master data management
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making abilities, and sound business judgement
  • Strong knowledge of Looker and Google Analytics is required
  • Strong systems knowledge, SQL, Oracle a strong plus; Strong knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Strong experience working in scaling and optimizing schemas, performance tuning SQL and BI / Data Warehouse environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to work and excel in a team environment

Physical requirements

  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time while working with a computer.

Working relationships

  • Works in cooperation with all levels across the organization, including teams in the US.
